Carolyn Jean Covert Scott, a former nursing educator, is currently involved in many aspects of community life.
Carolyn has a long history of volunteer service to the community, in the areas of education, health, social justice and community economic development.
Known for her tireless enthusiasm and dedication, Carolyn has served as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Fisherman's
Cove Development Association for the past ten years. As well, Carolyn sits on
the Nova Scotia Partners for Workplace Education, and is Chairperson of The Social
and Beneficial Society of Cow Bay.
Carolyn has a proven record of service to the
community, and has demonstrated that she is more than capable
of focusing her creative energies on achievable solutions in
many communities of Sackville Eastern Shore, whether building
a Marine Interpretive Centre, restoring an historic community
hall or creating a community garden. She possesses a positive
view of the abilities of all people, and is known as a person
who seeks to move society forward.
Carolyn is particularly passionate about creating economic opportunities
for citizens in their own communities, and assuring that people
have access to education in their workplaces. She is a fervent
promoter of environmental sustainability, believing that the
frail state of our environment provides the most important challenge
of opportunity for Canada and Canadians into the future.
Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with distinction
in Political Studies, from Mount St. Vincent University and a
Diploma in Teaching in Schools of Nursing from Dalhousie University.
Carolyn and her husband Joe have lived in Cow Bay for over thirty
years, with their three daughters Mary-Jane, Jacqueline and Leslie,
and their grandson Alexander.
